Today, I wanted to discuss the power of positive words with you. Though it should be obvious and self explanatory that positive words influence positive outcomes, it seems that many of us sometimes miss this. Yes, it is so very easy too speak in anger and disgust and spew negativity like a poisonous venom, but what if we all took the time to count to ten, reflect, calm down and voice our concerns in a more constructive manner?
It is true that at times criticism is necessary, but it does not have to be a negative thing. Criticism should be something that the person being criticized learns from, not feels bad about. This is one of those situations where you should harness the power of positive words.
I know that it is extremely difficult to gain control of your feelings at times, especially when it seems that situation or other person is well deserving of the full fury. But although it may not seem like it at first, positive words can help you manage such difficult scenarios.
Just think about when you were a child and your parents criticized you. Done in a negative way, this could impact you for the rest of your life – that is why so many people need to seek professional counseling now in order to help them move past hurts in their pasts. However, if your parents framed their concerns by using the power of positive words, more than likely, they got a much better response out of you and you were more open to change and suggestion. That’s the power of positivity.
So the next time you feel like letting someone have full blast, take a moment to reflect and think about how you can frame your sentiments in a more positive manner. You will feel better and most likely get a better response.
